What to do in Barranco: Galleries

If you enjoy art you're in luck! Barranco is one of the best places in Lima to appreciate the works of famous but also young artists from all over the country. Furthermore, you have an extra: all the art galleries in the district are relatively close between them. In this map you can see what I'm talking about.


Lucía de la Puente Galllery

This gallery can be considered as a classic within the art circuit of Barranco. Located in the heart of the district, Saénz Peña 206, this place is ubicated since 1995 in a beautiful white house on two floors. 

According to its website, the main objetive of the gallery is to promoting Peruvian artists of recognized trajectory, managing the work and promoting the insertion of young values ​​in artistic circuits, thus collaborating with the diffusion of contemporary art reaching a wider audience.

Yvonne Sanguinetti Galery

Yvonne Sanguenitti Galery its very close to the previous gallery (just a few meters, Av. Grau 810), whose mission is to develop activities linked to the dissemination of Peruvian artists, promotion and art advice, as well as the sale of works of art, among which are painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics and engraving.

Dédalo

Also very close to the two previous ones (Paseo Saénz Peña 295) is Dédalo Gallery, which in addition to having permanent exhibition halls, has a beautiful store where you can find handicrafts from various places in Peru, mainly form Cusco and Ayacucho.

Established in an old and large mansion, stands out the beautiful interior patio with its popular terrace, where you can taste cafes, sanguches, pizzas and concert nights.

80 M2 Livia Benavides Gallery

This gallery is located in a large house in front of Barranco's Malecón (Malecon Pazos 252) and is specialized in contemporary Peruvian art and its dynamics with the international scene.

According to his website, he is characterized by representing conceptual artists with an interest in both political and social reflection. They are also distinguished for supporting experimentation and risk, through conversations, publications and discussion boards. Galería del Barrio

We did not want to close this post without mentioning Galería del Barrio (Gallery of the Neighborhood), which although it is not in Barranco, is in the neighboring district of Chorrillos (Between Av. Huaylas y Restaunrat El Hornero).

Like its predecessors, it is housed in a beautiful house and is characterized by a collection of contemporary artists such as Cherman and vintage art objects. What stands out most of this place and its works are the color and a sympathy not disguised by chicha art (or popular Peruvian art).
